About Me

G'day, my name is Rian Prestwich and I am a University Student from Victoria, Australia. I am studying a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts at Australian Catholic University, majoring in History and a minor in Christian Theology. I have a website which I detail professional aspects about my time at university, including placements recounts and examples of how I am beginning to meet the Australian teaching standards. You can view my website here.

I will be adding some blogs to this site as I progress through university and, hopefully, as I enter the work force. I started this blog as I am participating in the 2016 Student Blogging Challenge, engaging with over 90 students per week. I believe this is a great opportunity for the students to interact with, and learn from, someone who is interested in the education sector that is separate from their teachers. It will also help me gain further experience engaging with students of varied ages, from varied countries, who are completing tasks. The students range from 12-15 and are either from the west coast of America or here in Melbourne.

My aim is to help engage all students, irrespective of any learning conditions or disabilities. I have five years experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum, students with english as second langauge (ESL) backgrounds, Indigenous heritage and behavioural problems during my employment at St Josephs College Ferntree Gully. Education has become my passion as it is the most powerful key that can be given to students as it opens up doors for their future.
